NT loads and executes bootsect.dos to start ME (the ME's Partition Boot Record). So just editing boot.ini will remove it from the menu. Boot to Win98 by the dual boot on your hard drive and get to the 'command prompt only' mode by pressing F8 immediately after having selected Win98 from the multiboot menu. After rebooting you may remove the Win2000 files manually. Quite a PITA. The above procedure has version self-checking built in.

I now have XP pro up and running, but I get an annoying "dual boot" screen giving a choice of XP pro and XP home! How can I get rid of this dual boot screen as XP Home no longer exists? If you want to remove Win2000 entirely you should reinstall XP. If you can live with the space it takes and just don't want the selection menu it's much easier.
